What is a world without systems of policing, imprisonment, and surveillance? How does speculative art-making merge the present and the possible future? How can we celebrate Black August in a way that subverts patriarchal patterns? Those were some of the themes for Relics: An Investigation of Black August at Juxtaposition Arts. My role as Communications Manager was to Art Direct and Design promotional materials for the mural reveal, art gallery opening, artist talk and community workshops.
The social media campaign promoted the gallery exhibit and the outdoor mural. At JXTA, the event branding focus on the art itself so I created a simple type treatment to overlay images of each piece.
